FINISHED SIZE

approx. 9.25 inches / 23.5 cm  -  from toes to top of ears

MATERIALS


- Worsted Weight (WW) yarn in the following colors: bear color (color of your choice), black, light grey, and uniform color (yellow/gold, red or teal/blue) 


- size G/4.00mm crochet hook


- 12mm black safety eyes 


- stuffing


- poly-pellets (optional) 


- yarn needle

Dec = sc2tog or invisible decrease

INSTRUCTIONS



HEAD


Starting with a magic ring and bear color, 6 sc into ring.


Round 1: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)


Round 2: *(Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around. (18 sc)


Round 3: *(Sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around. (24 sc)


Round 4: *(Sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around. (30 sc)


Round 5: *(Sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around. (36 sc)


Round 6: *(Sc in each of next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around. (42 sc) 


Round 7: *(Sc in each of next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around. (48 sc)


Rounds 8-17: Sc in each sc around.


Round 18: *(Sc in each of next 6 sc, dec), repeat from * around. (42 sc)


Round 19: *(Sc in each of next 5 sc, dec), repeat from * around. (36 sc)


Round 20: *(Sc in each of next 4 sc, dec), repeat from * around. (30 sc)


Round 21: *(Sc in each of next 3 sc, dec), repeat from * around. (24 sc)

Sc in next sc and fasten off bear color.


Attach light grey yarn by pulling up a loop through the last two loops worked.


Rounds 23-24: Sc in each sc around.


Sl st in next st and fasten off, leaving a length of yarn for sewing.


Place and secure safety eyes.


Stitch/embroider a smile. 




 

EARS


Make 2.


Starting with a magic ring and bear color, 6 sc into ring.


Round 1: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)


Round 2: *(Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around. (18 sc)


Round 3: (Dec, sc in next st) six times. (12 sc)


Sl st in next sc and fasten off, leaving a length of yarn for sewing.





ARMS


Make 2.


Starting with a magic ring and bear color, 6 sc into ring.


Round 1: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)


Round 2: Sc in each sc around.


Round 3: (2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 5 sc), twice. Fasten off. (14 sc)


Round 4: Change to black yarn by pulling up a loop through the last two loops worked. Sc in BLO of each sc around.


Rounds 5-12: Sc in each sc around.


Round 13: Change to uniform color by pulling up a loop through the last two loops worked. Sc in BLO of each sc around.


From now on, you will be working in rows.

Row 14: Sc in each of next 11 sc. Ch 1, turn.


Row 15: Skip first sc, sc in next sc and in each of next 9 sc. Ch 1, turn.


Row 16: Skip first sc, sc in next sc and in each of next 8 sc. Ch 1, turn.


Row 17: Skip first sc, sc in next sc, (dec, sc in next sc) twice, sc in next sc. Ch 1, turn.


Row 18: Skip first sc, sc in next sc, (dec) twice.


Fasten off, leaving a length of yarn for sewing.




 

LEGS


Make 2.


Starting with a magic ring and black yarn, 6 sc into ring.


Round 1: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)


Round 2: *(Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around. (18 sc)


Round 3: 2 sc in each of next 3 sc, *(Sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around. (26 sc) 


Round 4: Sc in BLO of each sc around.


Round 5: Sc in each sc around.


Round 6: Dec, sc in next sc, dec, sc in each of next 20 sc. Dec (over last st of this round and first st of next round). (23 sc)


Round 7: Sc in next sc, dec, sc in each of next 18 sc, dec. (21 sc)


Round 8: Sc in next sc, dec, sc in each of next 16 sc, dec. (19 sc)


Round 9: Sc in next sc, dec, sc in each of next 16 sc. (18 sc)


Rounds 10-19: Sc in each sc around.


Sc in next sc. Sl st in next sc.


Fasten off, leaving a length of yarn for sewing.



 

 

BODY


Starting with a magic ring and black yarn, 6 sc into ring.


Round 1: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)


Round 2: *(Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around. (18 sc)


Round 3: *(Sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around. (24 sc)


Round 4: *(Sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around. (30 sc)


Round 5: *(Sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around. (36 sc)

Fasten off black yarn and attach uniform color by pulling up a loop of the new color through the last

two loops worked.


Round 17: *(Sc in each of next 5 sc, dec), repeat from * around. (36 sc)


Round 18: Sc in each sc around. 


Round 19: *(Sc in each of next 4 sc, dec), repeat from * around. (30 sc)


Round 20: *(Sc in each of next 3 sc, dec), repeat from * around. (24 sc)


Round 21: *(Sc in each of next 2 sc, dec), repeat from * around. (18 sc)


Sl st in next st and fasten off. 




 

 

ASSEMBLY


Cup ears and sew to head. 


Stuff arms and sew to body, making sure to align uniform color with uniform color and black with black.


Stuff head and body (I added poly-pellets to the body segment in addition to stuffing) and sew together. 


With light grey yarn, stitch/embroider a com badge onto the bear's uniform.


Stuff legs and fold with toes facing up. Sew legs to front of body near or at Round 7.

  3. you know if you left of the ears and simply changed the skin color and uniform color you could easily make Picard
