Stegosaurus Amigurumi

MATERIALS:
Lion Brand Jiffy, 1 skein (A) "Apple Green" & partial skeins (B) "Grass Green" & (C) "Dark Grey Heather"
size I or J crochet hook
9mm black safety eyes (or black yarn)
stuffing
yarn needle

Dec1 = Insert hook in next stitch and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook). Now, insert hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook. [1 stitch has been decreased]

PATTERN:

SHAPE HEAD:
Round 1: Starting with a magic ring and A, 6 sc into ring.
Round 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12 sts)
Rounds 3-4: Sc in each st around.
Round 5: *(2 sc in next st, sc in next st), repeat from * around. (18 sts)
Rounds 6-8: Sc in each st around.

SHAPE BODY & TAIL:
Round 9: *(Sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st), repeat from * to last 3 sts, sc in each of last 3 sts. (23 sts)
Round 10: 2 sc in next st, sc in ea st around to end of round. (24 sts)
Round 11: [Sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st] twice, *(sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st), repeat from * to last 2 sts, sc in each of last 2 sts. (30 sts)

Secure safety eyes in place on head. Stuff head.

Hannah's Red Dragon

(NOTE: This pattern is based on a cartoon-y dragon I used to draw frequently as a kid.)

Red Dragon Wings Add-On

WINGS:
Make 2.

With red yarn, ch 2. 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 1, turn.
Row 1: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, dec1 over last 2 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 4: Sc in each of next 7 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 5: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 6: (Sc in first sc, ch 2, sl st in same sc), sl st in each of next 4 sc, (sc in next sc, ch 2, sl st in same sc) twice, sl st in each of next 4 sc, (sc in next sc, ch 2, sl st in same st).

Sew feet to haunches/body near the base of the amigurumi.

EARS:

Row 2: Sc in each stitch across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: 2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts. Ch 1, turn.

I just made another dragon in blue (Lion Brand Jiffy "Aqua") and added "fins" to the tail to make it a "water" dragon (or sea serpent). The fins are just another set of crocheted "ears" from the red dragon pattern. However, these, you obviously sew to the tail instead of the head.

The only thing I did differently for making the fins was to slip stitch down the side of the fins to meet up with the other end of yarn before fastening off.

I also did the stitching/embroidering on the wings, ears and tail fins with Lion Brand Jiffy "Grass Green" and then stitched the hands and feet in black.

One other thing - I used a size G hook and didn't change the yarn type, so I guess just use whatever size hook works for you to achieve the tightest gauge (for keeping in stuffing).
