Masaka, the Amigurumi Cactus

MATERIALS:
size G crochet hook
scrap yarn in the following colors: brown (soil), green (plant), your choice (flower)
small amount of black yarn for embroidering mouth
9mm black safety eyes
terra cotta pot (approx. 2.75" tall and 3" diameter)
small piece of cardboard
polypellets
stuffing
super glue
scrap of felt (optional)
yarn needle

GAUGE: Gauge is not terribly important, just keep stitches as tight as possible so that stuffing/polypellets won't show through, and if necessary, use a smaller hook to achieve this.

Neelix: "No, it's wonderful. It's creative. It's a symbol of friendship."

FINISHING & ASSEMBLY:
With black yarn, stitch a smile on the cactus.
Cut the small piece of cardboard to fit inside the base of the terra cotta pot.
Super glue the cardboard to the bottom of the inside of the pot.
Fill the terra cotta pot with polypellets and use super glue to secure the "soil" in place to the sides of the pot.
Optional: Use the base of the pot to trace a circle onto the scrap of felt.
Cut the felt and use super glue to secure it to the bottom of the terra cotta pot (this will help protect your furniture).
